The Beekeeping Experience

We are hobby beekeepers and enjoy sharing the experience. If you are a beekeeper, thinking of becoming a beekeeper, or just interested in what beekeeping is about, give us a call. We would enjoy talking with you! We are open to showing you our hives so you can have a chance to see the bees at work. We are always learning with this hobby, so we are eager to get to know and learn from other beekeepers in the area. We are members of the Fox Valley Beekeepers Association.

Extraction Report 2023

We extracted honey from 3 hives in late August, with a yield of just over 300 pounds of honey! Bees in our hives were happy and busy this summer--now they'll all rest and rejuvenate until next summer when we'll have a new batch of fresh honey.

Baby Bee Honey

Local Honey Directly From Our Hives in Wheaton, Illinois

Our beekeeping hobby produces far more honey than we could ever use ourselves, so we bottle and sell the excess. All of our honey is pure, raw honey directly from the hive. We strain it to remove particles of wax (and the occasional honeybee wing) but that is all we do to "process" our honey. Our cut comb is sliced right off the frame and boxed for you to enjoy.

We started beekeeping in the summer of 2013 with two hives. In 2020 we had 7 active hives, all located in south Wheaton our backyard as well as yards belonging to our friends and neighbors. We are thrilled to have neighbors and friends who enjoy the bees and are willing to host them on their property!

All our hives are within about 1/2 mile from Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton. Although we can't be sure where the bees go to gather their pollen and nectar, it is likely they are regularly visiting the wildflowers and flowering trees in the forest preserve.

We bottle and sell only honey produced in our own beehives, so we have only as much as our bees can make during the season. Once all the honey is sold, we will all wait together for next summer's honey.
